When people think about infertility, they often think about medications, procedures, and results. However, the thing that is not nearly talked about enough is everything that happens in between the appointments—the stress, uncertainty, and emotional toll that comes with hoping each month might produce different results.
At Midland Sports Rehab, we see how overwhelming this journey can be for patients. Although acupuncture isn’t a replacement for assisted reproductive fertility treatments, it has become a popular way for individuals to support reproductive health while also managing and improving their overall well-being.
Our goal is simple: We aim to help patients feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout every stage of their fertility journey, whatever that might look like.
Fertility Is More Than One Diagnosis
Infertility isn’t always caused by one measurable problem. Some patients may experience hormonal imbalances, irregular ovulation, endometriosis, or polycystic ovary syndrome. Another factor that might impact fertility is navigating male infertility. Because fertility is influenced by a multitude of systems working together, we believe treatment should look at the whole person and not just a diagnosis.
This is where acupuncture can play a meaningful role within your fertility journey.
A Different Perspective on Fertility Care
Traditional Chinese medicine views the body as an interconnected system, with each part working together to support overall function. Acupuncture focuses on promoting balance throughout the body and supporting the body’s natural processes.
Research suggests that acupuncture may support fertility by:
• Supporting hormone regulation
• Reducing stress hormones that could interfere with reproductive health
• Encouraging healthy blood flow to the uterus and ovaries
• Promoting improved sleep and overall wellness
• Supporting healthy sperm production and sperm quality in men
• Being used alongside assisted reproductive therapies, such as IVF and IUI
Many patients choose acupuncture because they want to support both their physical and emotional health during this challenging period.
Why We Don’t Believe in a One-Size-Fits-All Approach to Treatment
At Midland Sports Rehab, you’ll never experience a one-size-fits-all treatment plan. We take a tailored approach and take a deep dive into your medical history and anything you’re currently struggling with in order to improve your symptoms and overall well-being.
When you meet with Courtney Wilson, your appointment will go far beyond where the needles are placed. Courtney takes the time to learn about your menstrual history, medical background, fertility goals, lifestyle, stress levels, nutrition, sleep, habits, and overall health before creating an individualized treatment plan.
We see plenty of patients preparing for IVF. Others are trying to regulate their cycles before attempting to conceive naturally. Some are months into their journey, while others are just at the beginning. Every plan is built around the person sitting in front of us and their individual needs.
Supporting You Through Every Step
Acupuncture can provide an opportunity for patients to slow down, take a breath, and step away from the constant cycles of tracking ovulation, wondering what comes next, and waiting for phone calls along their journey.
Many patients report leaving appointments feeling calmer, experiencing improved sleep, and feeling more equipped to handle the emotional highs and lows that can come with fertility challenges.
Every experience is different, and we make it our priority to create a space where patients feel cared for. Having a safe and supportive space is just as important to us as the treatment itself.
Why We Recommend Starting Early
A big misconception is that acupuncture should begin after fertility treatments have started. However, preparing the body beforehand may provide an opportunity to support overall wellness before treatment begins.
With egg development occurring approximately 90 days before ovulation, beginning acupuncture three months before attempting to conceive or starting IVF may give the body time to respond to treatment. Likewise, sperm development takes approximately 70 to 90 days, which can make early treatment beneficial for male fertility as well.

Integrating Acupuncture With Medical Fertility Care
A major strength of acupuncture is that it can work alongside your reproductive endocrinologist or OB/GYN—not in place of them.
Many patients receive acupuncture before and after IVF or IUI procedures while continuing to follow all recommendations from their fertility specialist. The goal is to support overall wellness, reduce stress, and optimize the body’s natural physiological environment during treatment.
Our team believes that a collaborative healthcare approach provides patients with the best opportunity to feel supported throughout their fertility journey.
What Can Patients Expect?
Your first visit will include a comprehensive consultation in which Courtney will discuss your medical history, menstrual cycle, fertility goals, stress levels, lifestyle factors, and overall health.
Treatment plans are completely individualized. Appointments are relaxing and typically last between 45 and 60 minutes. Patients often report feeling calmer and more balanced following treatment.
